Dress – ASTR | Shoes – LOFT | Handbag – RACHEL Rachel Roy
We’ve just passed the summer solstice – the longest day of the year. I always set out to do a million and one things throughout the summer, and of course 24 hours in a day just isn’t enough. Among the top things I plan to accomplish are improving my blog and finding decor for my apartment (on a dime). I’ve got so many ideas and plans waiting to explode all over my first apartment. I love looking at bloggers bedrooms, office spaces, decor, etc. It gives me such great inspiration as to how I can personalize my own space. With that in mind, I have one summer to DIY the crap out of everything I can – I can’t wait to share them with you!
With the spring and summer approach, I love the shift dress trend that’s come to rise. Comfort and versatility at its finest. Ideally, summer dresses should be loose and flow freely, but dresses too flowy remind me of a little girl. Shift dresses provide the happy medium that I prefer. Another thing that I love about shift dresses is that they can work in almost any season. Since most shift dresses have long sleeves, a warmer color dress would be perfect for a night out in the fall.
The rest of my look was styled to accent the floral design of my dress. I’m not one to contrast much, so most of my looks are based on the accent colors from the small details. My shoes were a recent purchase, and such a fun statement on its own. The tassels and lace-up really epitomize summer vibes. I will say that the major challenge I face with the shoes were keeping the laces up. Every few steps they would fall, regardless of how tightly I tied them (hence the imprints above). These are likely supposed to be worn with the laces tied collectively at the bottom, but this is the look I had envisioned before the shoot, so I stuck with it!
I hope you all kicked off your summer right!
